Many people desire to be a part of a growing church. I know I do! There’s nothing better than seeing a group of believers winning souls to Christ and watching people grow in the Lord.
In Acts 16:5, the Bible tells us the churches were doing just that over 2000 years ago. “And so were the churches established in the faith, and increased in number daily.” They were increasing in numbers daily!
However, if you read the whole verse, it reveals the secret to their growth. The Bible says they were “established” in the faith. Before growth can come, there must be a base to build on top of.
Think of it like building a house. You can’t just start with the walls and roof. You need a strong foundation. Without a solid base, the entire structure is unstable. In the same way, a church’s base is faith in Christ. This is the launching pad for growth.
Consider a tree. A tree can’t grow tall and bear fruit unless it has deep roots. Those roots keep it anchored and provide the nutrients it needs. Similarly, a church must be deeply rooted in faith to grow and bear spiritual fruit.
Faith in Christ is not just the beginning of our journey; it’s the foundation on which everything else is built. As individuals and as a church, our faith needs to be firm and unwavering. When our faith is strong, it’s easier to withstand challenges and continue growing.
In the early church, the believers were firmly established in their faith. They knew what they believed and lived it out daily. Their strong foundation allowed them to grow and see more people come to Christ every day.
As we look at our own churches today, let’s focus on strengthening our faith in Christ. Let’s dive deep into His Word, pray fervently, and live out our faith in daily lives. When we are established in the faith, we create a strong foundation that can support the growth of others spiritually. And just like the early church, we can see an increase in numbers and spiritual growth.
So, let’s commit to being established in the faith, knowing that this is the key to seeing our churches grow and flourish. With a solid foundation in Christ, there is no limit to what God can do through us.
