Many people think they need to clean up their lives before coming to God, as if reaching a certain level of goodness will make them acceptable to Him. But the Bible paints a different picture.
God showed His love for us when we were anything but lovable. Even as we broke His commandments and lived in rebellion, He didn’t wait for us to get things right. Instead, He sent His Son, Jesus, to take the punishment we deserved. Jesus faced the judgment meant for our sin, and in our place, He offered us grace and the hope of heaven.
God reached out first. He didn’t wait for us to be worthy of His love. He gave it freely, proving that His grace is greater than any of our sins.
