“The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going.” Proverbs 14:15
The word “simple” here doesn’t mean dumb—it means open. Wide open. Like a city with no walls.
In Bible times, a city without walls was easy to attack. That’s what a simple person is like. They just believe whatever they hear. No filter. No guard. If someone says it, they take it as truth.
That’s dangerous.
The devil loves an open mind when it’s not tied down to God’s Word. That’s what happened to Eve. Satan talked, and she listened. Didn’t double-check. Didn’t pause. Just believed him.
But a prudent man—he looks where he’s going. He watches his steps. He doesn’t just believe everything he hears.
Let’s be the kind of people who think before we follow, and pray before we decide.
Don’t leave the door wide open. Not every voice deserves a seat at your table.
