When God Makes Your Enemies Preach

Sometimes God doesn’t just stop your enemies… He embarrasses them.

In 1 Samuel 19, Saul was on a mission to kill David. He sent messengers to arrest him, and those messengers ended up prophesying. So he sent more — same thing. Then a third group — same thing again.

Finally, Saul went himself. He was the king. He had power. He thought he was in charge.

But when he got there, God dropped him to the ground. He stripped off his royal clothes, laid down all day and all night, and just started prophesying. The same man who came to kill the man of God was now preaching under the power of God. He couldn’t stop it. He couldn’t fight it. God had taken over.

“So he went thither to Naioth in Ramah: and the Spirit of God was upon him also, and he went on, and prophesied, until he came to Naioth in Ramah. And he stripped off his clothes also, and prophesied before Samuel in like manner, and lay down naked all that day and all that night.”

1 Samuel 19:23–24a

When you stay in the will of God, God will handle your enemies — even if He has to take away their strength, their plans, and their pride. He might not destroy them right away, but He’ll show them who’s really in charge.

“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord.”Isaiah 54:17

David didn’t lift a finger… but God raised His hand.
