In John 13:28-30, the Bible says: “Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spake this unto him. For some of them thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said unto him, Buy those things that we have need of against the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor. He then having received the sop went immediately out: and it was night.”
This shows us something real serious about Judas Iscariot. On the outside, he looked like a true follower. But on the inside, he was hiding something wicked. The other disciples had no idea what he was about to do. They thought he was going to buy something for the feast or help the poor. That means he had them all fooled.
But Jesus wasn’t fooled. God knew exactly what Judas was doing. That path he walked out on wasn’t just a walk into the night, it was a walk straight into hell.
Judas had been close to the Lord. He saw the miracles. He heard the teachings. He was part of it all. But his never got saved. He acted like he loved Jesus, but really he had his mind on money and pride. That kind of double life never ends well.
It’s a warning to all those who claim to know Christ, but they have never been born again. Just because you go to church or serve in ministry doesn’t mean our hearts are clean before God. We can fool people, but we can’t fool Him. He sees right through the act. So we better make sure we’re saved.
Judas is a sad reminder that pretending to follow Christ is dangerous. He was so close, yet so lost. Don’t play games with God. Be real. Be honest. He already knows the truth anyway.
