“This Is My Body…”

From the very beginning, God’s plan for salvation was set into motion through a miraculous event—the birth of Jesus Christ.

Jesus, the Son of God, came into this world through a fragile womb. In the book of Luke, we read the angel’s announcement to Mary, a young virgin, who would conceive by the Holy Spirit and give birth to the Savior (Luke 1:26-38). This birth was the fulfillment of prophecy and a testament to God’s love for humanity. Jesus came to die so we could live, offering us the gift of salvation.

John 3:16 tells us, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross and resurrection was the ultimate act of love and redemption. He took upon Himself the sins of the world, so we could be forgiven and have eternal life.

With that in mind, the act of abortion stands in stark contrast to the sacrifice of Jesus. When someone chooses to murder their baby, the message is quite different: “You must die so I can live.” This mindset is the opposite of Jesus’ selfless love. Abortion, at its core, involves ending a life for the sake of convenience, comfort, or personal preference.

The devil, our adversary, delights in taking what is God’s and good, and twisting it for his own purposes. He perverts and distorts God’s creation to lead us away from the truth. The devil is known as the father of lies (John 8:44). He takes God’s truth and twists it into deceit and confusion. God designed marriage to be a sacred union between a man and a woman (Genesis 2:24), but the devil seeks to distort and redefine it. God created intimacy to be enjoyed within the bounds of marriage, but the devil promotes promiscuity, infidelity, and perversion. God values all life, but the devil promotes death, whether through violence, suicide, or abortion.

Abortion can be seen as the devil’s perverse sacrifice. In the same way, Jesus offered Himself for our salvation, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you” (Luke 22:19), a woman who chooses abortion, in effect, offering her unborn child on the altar of death, by defending her choice with these words:

“This is my body.”

In these dark and troubling times, it is crucial to remember the sanctity of life and the example of Jesus Christ. Every life is precious in God’s sight, from the moment of conception (Psalm 139:13-16). We must stand firm in defending the unborn and sharing the message of God’s love and redemption.

The story of Jesus’ birth, life, death, and resurrection is a powerful reminder that God values every life and offers hope and salvation to all.

Through God’s grace, may we uphold the sanctity of life and proclaim the truth of His love to a world in desperate need of it.
