Ever been in a spot where you didn’t know what to do?
Jehoshaphat was. In 2 Chronicles 20, he got word that a huge army was coming. Not one, but three nations—Moab, Ammon, and Mount Seir—were marching against him. He was outnumbered and outmatched.
So what did he do?
He didn’t run. He didn’t panic. He didn’t make a plan.
He prayed.
“O our God, wilt thou not judge them? For we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.” (2 Chronicles 20:12)
That right there is the turning point. Not when the army came. Not when the music started. Not even when the enemies were defeated. It was that prayer that moved God.
Then God answered.
“Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.” (v. 15)
And He gave three steps:
• Go face the enemy (v. 16)
• Stand still (v. 17)
• See the salvation of the LORD (v. 17)
Something Practical for Us Today
We all face battles. Sometimes it’s money. Sometimes it’s your kids. Sometimes it’s something spiritual that nobody else sees but you feel every day.
Here’s the same blueprint God gave Jehoshaphat:
1. Seek God first
“Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.” (v. 3)
He didn’t reach for a sword. He called a fast.
2. Acknowledge the problem honestly
“We have no might against this great company.” (v. 12)
God doesn’t need you to fake strength. Just be honest and trust Him.
3. Keep your eyes on the Lord
“Neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.” (v. 12)
There’s power in keeping your focus in the right place.
4. Let God speak
“Then upon Jahaziel… came the Spirit of the LORD in the midst of the congregation.” (v. 14)
When we’re still, God speaks.
5. Worship before the victory
“He appointed singers unto the LORD… that should praise the beauty of holiness.” (v. 21)
They praised before they saw the answer. That’s faith!
6. Collect the blessings afterward
“They were three days in gathering of the spoil, it was so much.” (v. 25)
When God wins the battle, you don’t just survive, you walk away with more than you had before.
The lesson here is simple. When you don’t know what to do, pray. Stand your ground. Keep your eyes on the Lord. Praise Him even if nothing has changed yet. And let Him fight the battle.
You may be one prayer and one song away from seeing the enemy fall apart in front of yo
